I'm so confused about 'end stages'. Please help

Hello. My mum is showing all.rhe signs of her body starting to close down...not eating, sleeping loads, no energy, distancing herself, not very mobile, being sick, etc

And yet the docs say her secondary  breast cancer - which is widespread - is 'stable'.  Her kidney levels are very low but they've let her carry on treatment.

The two.rhings don't seem to match at all ?  How can something be stable yet still taking her away?

I dont understand.  Is anyone able to explain ?  In a way I'm hoping a miracle will happen but she's really sleeping more all.fhr time And isn't herself

Thank you

  • Hi biscuit1,

I am so sorry to hear your mum is showing all the signs of her body starting to close down and I can understand why it might be a little bit puzzling for you to hear that her secondary breast cancer is stable when you see her for example sleeping more and having so little energy. Don't hesitate to ask specific questions to her medical team and to tell them that you are feeling confused and if they can explain everything to you so that you know what to expect in coming days and weeks.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to answer questions you may have.

Other members of our community may also be able to provide further insight based on their own stories and experiences.

We're thinking of you and your mum during this difficult time and wanted you to know that the forum is always here for you anytime you need to offload or talk to others who are or have been in a similar place.

    Best wishes,
