Prostate Cancer

I just wanted to reach out to get some information or insight from others who may have a similar lived experience.  My dad has stage 4 prostate cancer, it's everywhere apart from his skull.  He's had radiotherapy and it has helped with the pain, but will that extend his life? He is also on 6mth hormone injections. I am just trying to get mentally and emotionally prepared.    I would be really grateful if anyone has any insight or experience of this.  He has almost no appetite and now on meal replacment drinks too.  I just don't know what to expect and when :(

  • Hi Deb and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum, although I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. This must be so difficult but I'm glad the radiotherapy is helping with the pain.

We have some information about radiotherapy for advanced prostate cancer on our website but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive and will do all they can to answer your questions at this time.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and advice, but whilst you wait, you may be able to get more information and insight from Prostate Cancer UK and their online community.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
