Mum's lung cancer is getting worse. Heartbreaking

Hello everyone. Our beautiful mum was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2021 and sadly it was already at stage 4, untreatable with a prognosis of 6-12 months. She is declining rapidly and its heartbreaking to see.

Everyone tells me to make the best of the time left with her, but how? I've got 3 children and I work 30 hours per week - when do you "know" that it's time to give up work?

Her teeth have started to fall out - is this an indication of a downward turn? All unknowns.

Thank you.

  • Welcome to our forum, SouthyK although I'm sorry about the reason that brings you here.

It can be very stressful to manage life around you and the pressure to make time to be with your mum, the hours in a day just don't seem like enough, do they? This, unfortunately, is something that many here can relate to and I hope that some of them will come by soon to chat with you and offer advice and support. In the meantime, there is a page from our website dedicated to family, friends and caregivers of those with cancer I wanted to share with you and I hope this can help a little.

Stay strong, SouthyK and please remember that we're here for you whenever you feel like a chat.

Best wishes to you and your mum,

    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
