Bowel cancer chemotherapy

Hi all,

I'm after advice on adjuvant chemotherapy

I had a resection in August and was told I'm stage 2 but my cancer was moderate, and was advised I wouldn't really need chemo as they said it wouldn't benefit me much, I chose against this advise and opted for chemo because of the worry of recurrence, I'm two days into my first cycle of capebentine tablets and so far I feel ok just not sure if I should go the full 8 cycles incase I do unnecessary permanent damage.

I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar situation and concerns?

Thanks

  • Hello Gary2021

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis over the summer. It's understandable that you want to do all you can to mitigate the chance of recurrence and I think that many of our members here will understand that.

I'm not sure if we've anyone who has been in your position. No one immediately springs to mind but hopefully if we do have members here who have similar experiences they will post to share their words of support and advice with you.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice, information, and support as well as help you think about any questions you might want to raise with your clinical team. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
