  • Hi Sarah-lew and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sure some of our members will share their chemotherapy experiences with you soon but I hope these pages we have about chemotherapy for breast cancer and the potential side effects of chemotherapy will help you prepare for your treatment.

If you'd like to speak with one of our cancer nurses about this you can get in touch with them on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

Wishing you all the best for the 21st Sarah-lew.

    Kind regards,

  • Hey @Sarah-lew

So I am nearing the end of my chemo I started at the end of May. I think it depends on a few things firstly what treatment you are on and your overall health anyway / age and the amount of support that you have around you.

My treatment has been ok I haven't been too poorly from it. I started off on EC every 3 weeks which was pretty rough but I wasn't curled around the toilet like I imagined.

My second set of treatment which I started in July is paclitaxel which I have weekly and have had for the last 9 weeks ( 3 weeks left woohoo) and I also have a phesgo injection every 3 weeks. This treatment is a lot more barable then the EC less tired and I feel a lot more like me really. The only thing I've found on the weeks that I have the Phesgo is that I get a bit of a bad tummy whether it's the Phesgo or the fact that I have the taxol and the Phesgo together that causes it however it's short lived and I'm not in any pain or sick.

my experience has been an alright one, don't get me wrong I can't wait until I don't have to go for it anymore but we do what we have to.

I hope everything goes well - Good Luck!
