Stage 4 stomach cancer EOX

What treatment has been given to stage 4 stomach cancer patients in the UK?
Has anyone been successful for a trial? What are peoples thoughts on immunotherapy and stomach cancer? Even though a patient is told the cancer is incurable, has anyone outlived the year that they were told?

My partner has stage 4 stomach cancer at 28!

  • So sorry to hear this news .I'm waiting for a diagnosis too thats not going to be good.Hope you can find some way through this both of you.

  • Hi,

My case is unusual and I’d hate to raise false hope but I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophageal/gastric junction at stage 4 in 2013.

I was told when diagnosed that I might not survive until Christmas 2013 and I definitely wouldn’t see Christmas 2015. This was based on survival rates at the time.

I was lucky enough to be a super-responder to EOX - a statistical outlier. I had no complementary or experimental treatments, but I was physically fit, relatively young (55) and tolerated the chemo relatively well.

In my view, despair is the biggest enemy because once you lose hope, the less likely you are to complete (or even start) the treatment which is very unpleasant.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes

    Dave

  • Hi Dave so pleased to hear your responding well and pray this has continued.

Can I ask did you have surgery to remove stomach or just chemo. Also when you say stage 4 I assume you had Mets were these in the peritoneal cavity.

I have stage 4 gastric cancer with peritoneal Mets currently well on chemo

I hope you don't mind direct question Thank you Jane

  • Hello,
