Testicular cancer

Hello. My name is Luci and I am a 25 year old transgender woman. I found a lump on my testicle and showed it to my GP, he thought it was suspicious and I had an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed the 1,5cm mass intratesticular and I have been admitted to hospital now. I just had a CT scan to look for tumours elsewhere and still haven't got the results. I am hoping that this was caught early as I don't have any other symptoms apart from the lump and it's not that big. Anyone with experience in this matter to share your story? I may be having radical orchiectomy tomorrow.

  • Hello Lucib

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I'm sure it's been a difficult time for you and I hope that your surgery has gone well if indeed you have had it.

We have got a number of members here who have had testicular cancer and if you use the forum search function to look for the term "orchidectomy" you'll find quite a few posts that you can read through. I know some of them are from members who have recently had their diagnosis/surgery so hopefully, you'll be able to connect with them.

If you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses at any point you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you are when you're able.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello. Thanks so much for answering me. I had the testicle removed and the CT scan showed no sign of cancer anywhere else apart from a 3mm nodule in my lung which my doctor thinks is benign but we will watch it over time. I am waiting on the study of the tumour so they can tell me whether or not I need to have preventive chemo.

  • Hello Lucib

That's sounding positive. I do hope that you won't have to wait too long for the pathology results in the meantime, try to take it easy and I hope that your surgical recovery goes well.
