Avoiding a hysterectomy

I have cancer in my womb and spreaded in to my muscle but they can't offer be radiotherapy or chemotherapy, they want to do a radical hysterectomy but I don't want that as I haven't had kids yet, my cancer apparently is unique in my age as I'm 24, I need advice. What can I have treatment for 1b cancer

  • Hi Chan

i have stage 1b2 cervical cancer and am currently undergoing radiotherapy and chemo, but haven't had a hysterectomy as my tumour was too large. I was told that my treatment would leave me unable to have children, both because of my ovaries being unable to produce eggs and I wouldn't be able to carry a child.

We decided to try to harvest eggs, unfortunately it didn't work for me, but this might still be an option for you. You can have eggs harvested and a surrogate later when you want to have children.
If I could have I would have had surgery in a second as I think that would have made me feel like it was "more likely to stay away" if that makes sense.
Being told I couldn't have children was difficult and one of the hardest discussions I had to have with my fiancé, but saving my life is more important just now.
only you can make this decision, I hope your treatment whatever you decide to do is successful.
