5 year old daughter diagnosed with Retinoblastoma and will be having treatment soon. Has anyone else been through this with their children?

My daughter 5 years old diagnosed with Retinoblastoma. She is going to have Enucleation soon and chemo.

Any of you did it recently and how did that child cope up ?

What are the side effects faced through Chemo ?

How long after Enucleation started with chemo

I know consultant will discuss. Would like to know practical journey.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Warrior_Veriya, although I'm so sorry to hear your 5 year old daughter has been diagnosed with retinoblastoma.

Unfortunately the last time this was mentioned on the forum was over 4 years ago so I'm not sure if you will hear back from anyone within our community about this but I have discovered that The Children and Young People's Association have an online community you can join where you can connect with other parents and carers who are also on this journey.

We have some information about treatment for retinoblastoma on our website but if you have any further questions or concerns you can give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

We're sending you all our strength and support Warrior_Veriya and wishing your daughter the very best of luck with her surgery and chemo.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
