I'm sorry to hear that your daughter has been referred on an urgent suspected cancer pathway. It's understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed and scared.
I'd suggest giving our nurses a call to talk things through with them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
Hopefully she won't have to wait too long for her appointment and the team will be able to give you both some reassurance.

I don't know what to say to her. She keeps asking me if she's still going to be able to have children and I don't know how to answer her. Her blood results alone are not good. She's lost half her body weight which was the reason for the bloods never did I think it could be this. Thanks for replying.
First of all I’m sorry you and your daughter have the agonising wait to go get tests done and get definitive answers it’s such a worrying time. I believe being honest about your own thoughts if it were my daughter asking my response would be
we don’t know yet that there is definitely cancer present but if we do find that you have ovarian cancer then it would depend what stage and treatment you need but there is a possibility it could affect you having children. However the most important thing would be to treat the disease. The doctors will always look at ways of treating ovarian cancer in a young patient in a way to preserve fertility where possible so egg freezing ect might be an option
if the outcome isn’t a positive one please ensure you talk about the fertility concerns with her oncologist
