Husband diagnosed with kidney cancer and overwhelmed

My husband (43) has been diagnosed with kidney cancer and just had his kidney out. They think he might have cancer in his bones too. I’m feeling so overwhelmed and terrified - how do you cope with the fear of loosing them and raising young kids alone? I can barely function.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum AEH although I'm sorry to hear about your husband and how you are feeling at the moment.

I think quite a lot of our members have contended with similar fears and emotions when supporting their loved ones on their cancer journeys, especially when waiting to find out if the cancer has spread, so you are not alone AEH, and hopefully some of them will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

I know it must be difficult but if you can, try and take some time to process these thoughts and give yourself some TLC, as it's just as important for you to look after yourself so you can be there when your husband and children need you the most.

If it would help to talk things through with someone, do give our team of cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address any other queries or concerns you may have at this time.

We're thinking of you AEH and wishing your husband all the best with his recovery.

    Kind regards,
