Diagnosed with colon cancer

Hi I'm new on here.

I am 31 years old.

On the 22nd of October I went into a&e with abdominal pains and sickness I was later sent back home with acid tablets and codine for the pain thinking I had really bad acid..

I suffered out the 23rd at home taking the medication I was given and the 24th my mum told me to go back to a&e because I wasn't moving from the sofa I was in so much pain and tired wasn't eating if i tried a tiny bit of toast I was chewing for a long time and wasn't able to swallow so would just spit it back out was always being sick. I was in a&e for hours and see the same doctor I saw on the 22nd. He tried to palm me of again with the same until I refused to go till more tests was done he agreed to give me a ct, I went for the scan and waited around. That doctor went of shift and a different doctor then told me they found a tumour in my bowel. I stayed in hospital the ward sent me.for another ct scan on the 25th and I see that same doctor that nearly sent me home again outside the ct room and he was shocked I was still there and asked why I was still there until the pain nurse ( anthesia i cant spell sorry) told him why and his face just dropped so I had the operation on the 26th removed my right bowel. I was in hospital for 11 days.. Nearly a month gone past and I go to a face to face appointment on Wednesday to know what stage and what is next and I'm scared.

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community Charley, although I'm sorry to hear about the tumour that was found in your bowel.

I know you're finding out what stage your cancer is today and what will happen next, so I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck and let you know we're thinking for you.

Hopefully some of our members who have been diagnosed with colon cancer will stop soon to offer their support and advice, but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're here for you Charley and will have our fingers crossed for a good outcome.

    Kind regards,
