Good evening ladies, buckle up... this might take a while ( sorry in advance).
im 35 yrs old and was diagnosed with breast cancer (IDC grade 2)
I was referred on 12/11/21 wasn't seen until 09/12/21 1st mammogram due to my age followed by ultrasound and initially told I could be on my way prior to images. well things changed straight after first snap on the torture device. Was told consultant wanted to see me before I leave. Wonder balls!! After waiting for a further 1and a half hours got called in and was told borderline but biopsy will confirm and to come back next week for results.14/12/21 got the news of it was cancer but other results pending dragged out the whole of dec for the rest of results ER+ PR+ HER-2 neg. all fine. Also had an MRI, showed something that they called me in for a secondary ultrasound and said 'nope just a cyst no biopsy needed no further investigation required' me skipping away like cool, ok. Surgery for lumpectomy finally rolls up on 07/02/22 decide to a SLNB on the good old OSNA machine. Yup, cyst turned out to be cancer . 1 surgeon actually said they could se it was cancer so out came the level 2 lymph nodes... my lord id rather be in labour again!!!
anyway go to get my results from the surgery a whole two and a half weeks later and would you believe no results. But told I will be having chemo as it's in lymph nodes. So I leave try calling my cancer nurses every day for the rest of the week with no answer or return call to find out if they had them finally had enough so I went to the hospital and they still didn't have my results due to a lab change of location and lack of staff in new lab due to the influx of patients they now have to assess which personally I don't feel is fair on anyone waiting for these results as it dictates our futures.
after a little moan they chased up the pathologist and finally got a call from consultant 2 days later saying I need to go have the margined cleaned. Well the letter that he sends my gp that I get a copy of says a very different thing. First lesion I knew about, behind that little cherub is another lesion of grade 1 invasive carcinoma with intermediate and high grade nuclear grade DCIS. Like a surprise twin!! I queried the wording of this letter as it initially sounded to me like 2 lesions as well as DCIS. I'm concerned that the surgeon hasn't actually told me any of this himself. I've still not been staged. I've still not been referred to an oncologist. I haven't been stuck for bloods. I haven't had any further imaging done my question is, is this the normal process as everything I read says differently. Getting aggy, twitchy and don't know who to turn to about my concerns, unless I turn up and demand to see someone that is. I hope this all makes sense sorry if not. Twitching as I type x
