My son has bone cancer

Hi, my son, who is 37  has cancer of the oesophagus . He has just finished 4 rounds of flot chemotherapy to shrink the tumour ready for surgery. He has just received the results of his ct scan it has now spread to his lower spine and has been told they will not operate on his oesophagus now. It is now palliative care has anyone else been in this position.  We are completely shell shocked.

  • Hello Meltra44

I'm so very sorry to hear that your son has been given the news that his cancer has spread and that the team is now offering palliative care. It's totally understandable that you're shell shocked by this news.

I can see that you've also posted on one of our active threads with members who have this same type of cancer and that Milly58 has replied to you there offering some words of support. Do post again on that thread as they are a knowledgeable and supportive group with personal experience.

We do have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research UK that you're welcome to call on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to talk with you and offer any advice, information, and support that they can.

Undoubtedly this is a difficult time for you all. Make sure you take care of yourself in all of this as well. We're here to listen and support you if you feel that posting on the forum helps.

    Best wishes,
