Cancer Research UK has published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2025/26, highlighting major progress in cancer research, prevention and support services, made possible by the generosity of supporters, partners and volunteers.
Some of the year's key achievements include:
- Funding the world's first preventative lung cancer vaccine trial, LungVax, alongside the development of OvarianVax and LynchVax.
- Supporting five new global Cancer Grand Challenges research teams tackling some of cancer's biggest unanswered questions.
- Helping advance earlier diagnosis, including research that could improve breast cancer detection in women with dense breasts.
- Playing a leading role in the Smokefree UK campaign, contributing to landmark legislation to reduce future smoking-related cancers.
The charity invested £416 million in research during 2025/26, exceeding its commitment to invest £1.5 billion in research over the last five years. It also delivered around 27 million interactions through its information and support services, including About Cancer, Cancer Chat and the nurse helpline.
While challenges remain, CRUK continues to invest in research, innovation, data and AI to help bring new discoveries to patients faster and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
