Happy New Year 2025

To every single one of you in the Cancer Chat community,

Whether you are a cancer patient yourself, are looking after a loved one with cancer or whatever you are going through at the moment, I wanted to wish you a happy new year 2025.

And today I am thinking in particular of those of you who have had to spend Christmas day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in hospital or who suddenly saw a loved one being rushed off to hospital unexpectedly during this festive period.  I know how traumatic events like this may have been for you and how you may not feel like celebrating or being festive at the moment and it's totally fine not to be merry and not to feel in tune with everyone around you who may be having all these end of year celebrations. You may be reading my message in a hospital room or café and I wanted to say that you are not alone and you can reach out to others here on Cancer Chat who find themselves in a similar place, feeling in limbo in different hospitals across the UK. May all this be behind you soon so that you can look forward to 2025. I am aware also that many of you may have lost a loved one this week and I cannot imagine anything harder than having to go through this and experiencing so much sadness when your world comes crashing down while the whole world is in a party/celebratory mood. There will be brighter days even though it can be hard sometimes to imagine it when going through a traumatic experience. Your online friends on Cancer Chat are here for you and it's comforting to know that there are other people somewhere, even online, who understand you, who've been through this before.

I will end my message on a brighter note with one of our members' -  's - Happy New Year's inspiring poem which has a message of hope for the future, for what 2025 will bring us and what we leave behind in 2024. And I will quote the last line of her poem: "As we step into 2025, you never know, it could be our best year ever. It might turn out wonderful and bright."

May 2025 be wonderful and bright for you all.

  • This is a really lovely thing to do and I'm sure it will be thought provoking for many , as well as remembering those who are really suffering at this time it brings a sense of hope for 2025 ,its great that the many messages throughout the year have helped many whether it be advice or for the many questions that people want answered ,its also good that those who have been through different procedures are still here to answer some of the questions I'm thinking of people like Jolamine and others of course who are always there to give great advice to many people , there are also people who have become friends and keep in touch periodically on here I'm thinking of Mary who's journey I have followed from day one and despite it being a long hard journey for her she has come out at the other end and has had a great Christmas this year ,there's a lot to be thankful for ,so thank you Lucie for this lovely post and also Jassoscared for her brilliant poetry ,have a great new year 2025 all x
