My Nan had cancer for nearly 12 years! I was only young when she first got told she had it so I didn't really understand, but as I got older I learnt she was very ill, I'd see her loose her hair every year and use her crutch as she struggled to walk. I never ever heard my Nan complain about her illness because she wanted to show people she was strong. She was a fiesty lady and was definitely a strong character who spoke her mind but she never ever failed to be the best Nan she could be despite how unwell she was. I remember going to hospital appointments with her and seeing so many people struggling, I hated it it made me feel selfish and upset that these people were ill and I was fine. My Nan passed away on the 30th September this year and I've never experienced pain like it, I sat by her side nearly everyday until it was her time and I know she knew I was there. I'm writing this because I am so proud of anyone who is going through the same thing, if you have this horrible disease or have a family member who is fighting it, keep strong you're doing so well and everyone is very proud of you. The people at the hospital were great to Nan and she appreciated everything they did for her, she also donated to cancer research every month to help people who were in the Same place as her. Cancer research is doing amazingly and I hope they find more help in the future ️
