Hi Jason,
You probably wouldn't want it to get any easier, but you will learn to live with it and eventually learn to rebuild your life.
Don't rush things, we all grieve in our individual ways and in our own time. There's no rule book, we all just try to survive the utter devastation caused by the death of someone we love from cancer.
This probably sounds like a string of platitudes, but I hope it helps.
Best wishes
Dave
It's hard not to use platitudes, it's all we have! I know it's early days but the outlook feels very gloomy. Thank you for reaching out
Hello Jason,
I just wanted to echo what davek has rightly said already and to let you know that we are all here for you anytime you would like to reach out. So many other members of this forum have also lost a loved one recently and they will know how you are feeling at the moment and how tough coping with grief can be. It may be worth talking to your GP about how you've been feeling as I am sure they will have some good advice and suggestions for you.
If you feel really low at any point and feel the need to reach out at any time of day or night, don't hesitate to give the Samaritans helpline a call on 116 123 - they are available 24h a day, every single day of the year.
Keep strong Jason, I know it's really hard but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone, that many others on this forum have been in a similar place before, feeling lost and alone after the loss of their partner and I hope they will be along shortly to share their story with you. One name inevitably springs to my mind, [@Chris2020] who sadly lost his wife at a very young age eight months ago and he will know exactly how you are feeling at the moment and could be a good person for you to chat to here.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
