Grief counselling / Who do you talk to?

Hi all, I've just joined the chat and this is my first post. My mam has a couple of months to live they say and I need to speak to someone as bottling it up is becoming too much. Who do you speak to and how did you find them? Helpline? Counsellor? Either before or after you lost someone... I have a new baby and no time to do anything non-essential but it's all getting too much to keep inside. Have plenty of friends but would prefer to talk to someone I don't know. Not sure why...Thanks a lot

  • Hello Alicat81

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. Obviously, it's an incredibly difficult time, and having someone to talk to will, I'm sure, be of benefit.

You might find it helpful to read the Marie Curie article on their website about anticipatory grief. they also have a support line number that you can call. Cruse also has an interesting article on their website and provides bereavement support so they are another option that you may want to consider contacting for support.

Alternatively, if you'd like to chat with one of our nurses for some advice and information you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that you find the support you need to help you at this difficult time.

    Best wishes,
