Where to turn?

Hi

Can anyone recommend any numbers to speak to anyone  about this grief.  I cared for mum at home for 6 weeks before she died and i feel like i made mistakes and i am really struggling to cope.  I am reluctant to speak to Marie Curie or Macmillan as when i was begging for help and over night cover they didnt come through.  Does anyone know of any other servces please?

  • Hi there ...

I've been there and I called "cruse" 0808 808 1677 ... I had so many emotions that were overwhelming about loosing my granddaughter to acute myeloid leukaemia a few months ago...

I found I sobbed for most of the half hour I was on the phone ... but it so helped as much as talking to someone ... give it a try ... sending you a vertual hug.... Chrissie x

  • Oh I'm so so sorry about your Granddaughter Chrissie, thats heartbreaking.  My best friend had acute myeloid leukemia a few years ago and its devastating.  I am sending you so much love.

Thanks for the number - I will call them later and no doubt sob for the whole time.  I never expected losing a parent to be easy but I'm completely overwhelmed with grief.

Thanks again i really appreciate it xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Hello Kath 90,

l am sorry to hear of your grief, and of your struggles to come to terms with pressures that it p[laces upon you.Its not easy to do it on your own, which is why l would reccommend you get in contact with your local MAGGIES centre, hopefully their is one close to you.The upside positive is that you can visit their centres, talk face to face with their experts and befriend and meet others that are going through,or have gone through what you are now facing. The centres are a refuge of care and understanding, and an oasis of calm serenity, just the very thing that seems an impossibility to someone going through the trauma of cancer or its consequences. There for both sufferers and bereaved, helping to unpick the the practical and mental damage that this insidious invader creates.

They were the ones that helped me rescue myself in my darkest moments, providing me with peace, light, and the strength to keep going forward, seven years on and enjoying life again,l was so glad l found them.

Just pop MAGGIES in your se4arch engine and all the details will come up,l hope this is of a help to you.

l am sorry for the loss of your Mum,please remember the that the one mistake you never made, was loving and caring for her,and doing your very best, anything else is of little consequence,

                                                                                                                         take good care of yourself,

                                                                                                                                                           David

  • Thankyou for your lovely words David, they are comforting.

I have had a search and there is a Maggies not to far away so I will definitly give them a call.  I think i really need to chat to a professional as i'm not coping too well with the loss at the moment.

    Thanks so much xxxx
