My dad passed away from cancer 4 months ago and I just can't comprehend his death it doesn't make sense to me the fact I'll never see or speak to him again. it just feels like he's been away for awhile and will come back eventually.

Hello Jordan86,
Those feelings you describe are perfectly normal and one of the emotions many go through when grieving. As is explained in our Coping with Grief page , grieving involves a range of different feelings and the grieving process usually comprises different stages. Feeling numb as if it didn't really happen, feeling that the person you have lost has merely gone away and will come back eventually is a common occurrence. Talking to other people about what happened as suggested on our website may help you reach acceptance.
If you find things get too much for you and that you are struggling to cope, don't hesitate to talk to your GP about it and they will be able to help you and give you some good tips to help you cope in the coming months.
Many on our forum will understand what you are going through having themselves lost a parent to cancer recently and I am sure they will come soon and share their own stories, experiences and coping strategies with you.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
