Wife's funeral

It's bad enough loosing my wife unexpectedly to aggressive cancer. Why is it people make money out of the worst case scenario. The wife's funeral was during lockdown. Now because of lockdown, the funeral directors said if the family did not live together in one household. So the wife's sister lived in Manchester my daughter lived around the corner myself and my lad lived at home, and the wife's best friend and her family would all have to use separate funeral cars plus the hearse. now that would have been five cars the hearse. So my wife's sister took control of the arrangements. we used our own cars, as her sister said it would have been close to 1,200 pound for the cars. the directors understood our position and was fine with us using our own cars. So why is it funeral directors charge so much out of other peoples misery.

  • Hello blobs,

I am so sorry for your loss. As you said, not only did you have to go through this painful unexpected loss but then having to also deal with the financial costs involved especially during lockdown. Having to spend £1200 for funeral cars that is indeed a lot of money! But it's good that the funeral directors understood your position and didn't mind you using your own cars.

I hope that despite all this, everything went ok at the funeral and that you were able to remember your wife in the best possible way during these challenging times.

    Best wishes,
