Vulvar cancer

my mum sadly passed away recently.  She had recurrent vulvar cancer and was having radiotherapy. Having a hard time dealing with it especially as she had a scan near the end of last year before having treatment.

They said she had infection on her lung and failed to pick up that it was cancer. Whilst having treatment for pelvic radiotherapy she was screaming in pain with her back. She couldn’t walk.  After a scan, it was found that she had a tumour on her back.   She was having pelvic radiotherapy Which would’ve covered the area where she had the tumour?

She was screaming out in so much pain, and the doctors, just said that she’s going to get pain due to it being the radiotherapy. She was just given lots and lots of morphine and got worse and deteriorated. She was given two months to live she died in 10 days. I’m absolutely heartbroken

So many questions and no answers

  • Hello Cheers123

I'm so very sorry to hear about your Mum and all that you both went through in the last weeks of her life. It's obviously been an incredibly difficult time for you and it's natural that you may have unanswered questions about her diagnosis and treatment.

In the first instance, I'd suggest that you contact the hospital PALS department. It's their role to offer confidential advice, support and information and should be able to help you with getting the information that you're seeking from the hospital.

It may also be worth thinking about contacting Cruse, a charity that offers bereavement support. Having someone to talk to about how you're feeling and your thought processes can really help and Cruse is able to offer a few different types of bereavement support.

If you'd like to talk to one of our nurses for some advice and support you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
