Terminal cancer

My brother was in hospital for 10 weeks with a stroke his bloods kept showing infection after the 10th week they found out he had terminal cancer on the pancreas lungs and liver that was on the Thursday they sent him home on the Friday for end of life care he survived for 9 days I just want to know why this wasn't picked up before 10 weeks he also had numerous scans and X-ray thank you in advance
