11 years since losing my mum

Hello,

I lost my mum when I was 20 years old and she was 45. She was my rock and my best friend. It has been 11 years and I still feel completely lost without her.

I'm was hoping to speak with people who may be in a similar situation.

  • Hello AmberL,

A warm welcome to our forum! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing your mum at such a young age must have been a real shock for you. We have information on this page on coping with grief which I hope you will find helpful. It may be helpful perhaps for you to talk to your GP and see whether it would be beneficial for you to speak to a counsellor about this - there are some who specialize in helping people overcome their grief especially in cases like yours when it has lasted so many years.

I've actually just welcomed another member to the forum who also lost a mum 11 years ago precisely just like you and it would perhaps be a good person for you to chat to here. You can find [@Peanut86]‍ 's story here  and don't hesitate to respond to it if you wish. It can help to talk to someone else who will totally understand how you are feeling at the moment.

We're all there for you if you need to talk!

    Best wishes,
