My mom died and I’m questioning everything

My mom died about 1.5 months ago, she was my best friend in the whole world. and the last week or so I have been overthinking everything, even overthinking my amazing relationship with my boyfriend, I find myself questioning my love even though I know I truly love him. When my mom passed she said to me "keep him in your heart" and of course this meant a huge amount to me. I feel so bad for having these thoughts but my counseller and friends all tell me that it's completely normal, has anyone experienced this before?

  • Hi my mother is terminally ill.and I have also started questioning my love for my husband. I think I am going to try and find a counsellor to help me understand why. There is probably a reason we are doing this. I hope you find peace.

  • Hi, I am glad I am not the only one experiencing this. I have a counsellor and she said she understands that it is a defense mechanism because we love our moms so much that we are hurting they when they got taken from us, and we love our partners so much too, so we put up a barrier because we are worried it will happen again and we will get hurt again, I hope this makes sense! I hope you enjoy your time with your mom.
