Lost my brother last sunday

My brother hadn’t been mentally well for some time and lived in residential home.We lost our dad 4 years ago and mum 12 years ago all to cancer ,which was painful for us all.I have a lot of siblings, and we range from 60 -70 years old now.My Brother was to,d he had lung cancer.

Covid 19 hit so we couldn’t see each other,so we had to video each other and text.He went into a Hospice and stay one night,I was told he was go8ng to be moved to a nursing home, but I know he hadn’t got long.

I was phoned by the Hospice saying he hadn’t got long left ,and I could come and see him.I raced to get there ,as soon as I parked out side I smelt disinfectant,I shouted for him to wait for me,but I know he had gone.when I reached the Hospice they didn’t hurry me,I said he died at 2.15pm.and they said yes.

I went in and the smell of disinfectant in the hall it was so strong,I went into his room,he looked peaceful, but it didn’t look like him,he had gone.so now the only girl of 8 brothers I’m now sorting things out.So nearly a week later .

I  never believed in sprits but I’m sure it was my brother Steve saying good bye.

  • Hello Thimble
I'm so sorry to hear that your brother recently passed away. It's been hard for so many people not being able to spend precious time with loved ones during the Covid pandemic but it sounds as if you've found a little peace in believeing that Steve was able to say his goodbye.

I hope that the funeral goes as smoothly as possible and that as a family you're able to support each other through your loss.

    Best wishes,
