Dad has died

I lost my Dad on Saturday and I am devastated, It all happened very quickly. I have my Mum still here who is in poor health, she was getting a basic pension and has life insurance for Dad which will only amount to 3,200 but the funeral costs are coming in at 4.300 without being even able to have limo's to accompany him to his Cremation. We have no money and we don't know how we can fund the difference yet alone know how Mum will be able to cope without Dad as her soul mate let alone financially in the future. Dad was 70, above retirement age but sill on PAYE working for a company - they paid him basic sick pay onlyl which has resulted in Mum running up debts now and she is really scared about the future.

Me and my Brother and Sister are not in good jobs, are struggling to make ends meet , and don't know what on earth we can do to help here now and in the future

  • Hi there ..

So sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment...

If you go on the search engine... look up pention credit .. if her pention is under , I think about £169 , and has under 10,000 in savings, they will make it up ... you can do it over the phone, and it may take a few weeks ..  also if you phone mcmillan they have financial help on there, who may be able to help your mum if theres help on the funeral ...

That funeral, with no cars following, seems quite high ... I'd check other funeral home in your area and ask them .. but call McMillan and ask them first ...

It's so hard, when you have never organised a funeral, how confusing it is .. at my sister's funeral last month, there was only 10 allowed in the chapple.... this carona is making everything so heart breaking...I hope others have more advice to help you too .... Chrissie... x

  • Many thanks for you kind words and information. i will get the information from my Mum and make the phone calls.

    Regards,
