Mum's Battle

Hi all,

My mother recently passed away of Stage IV Cervical Cancer spread to the liver.

She was given CarboTaxol and then Liposomal Doxuribicin which had toxic effects on her body.

All of the family is grieving, we are hoping to have a meeting with the consultant.

Does anyone have any related stories with Cervical Cancer bereavement. Would be healing to hear.

Many thanks.

  • No I don't but my mother died of myeloma ie cancer of the bone marrow - I was heartbroken and still am after 3 years .... it is so hard but everyone passes eventually - sad but true - you eventually realise that she was not defined by her illness but that the good memories will come back and there are so many more good memories than bad ones - time heals you just need to grieve and it takes as long as it takes - allow yourself to grieve xx

  • My mum has stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to her liver I've noticed the liver seems to be the primary site for so many cancer metastasis. I would like to know why that is..?

it's heartbreaking and I really wish more could be done for stage 4 cancers. Yes early detection saves lives but when you're seemingly healthy with no pain and no symptoms and just enjoying life you don't think about doctors or tests ..mum is like that. No pain, no weight loss and no outward symptoms until stage 4! It's so b****y unfair.

i am devastated for my mum and anyone else living or diagnosed with this demon disease and also for those loved ones lost to this ... evil thing...

  • Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. Yes liver metastasis is very common. My Mum's consultant explained that as there is a direct blood supply (e.g. through the hepatic vein) it is easy for cancer cells to spread into the bloodstream to the liver.

May I ask what treatment you Mum has been offered or has been previously given.

Wishing you all the best. X
