My husband passed away peacefully

My husband Ant recently  passed  away peacefully,  he had just completed  Chemotherapy for bowel cancer (July 2018) he then became unwell which resulted in a swollen  stomach. A scan showed tumours a diagnosis was made and it was peritoneal metastasis. ....within four weeks he was dead....what is so difficult to understand is all his blood tests came back ok..except for a slight riaise on the protein count...it is called a "silent killer" please do not rely on blood tests....ask for scans in between treatment.

  • Hi jamjar so sorry for your loss. I lost my husband (in May) his cancer was in the colon and rectum. His blood work kept coming back good as his treatment progressed even the liver tests were good so we didn't even know to ask for scans. It was only when he became so painfully bloated that scans were done and showed metastasis to the liver. Scans in between treatment are very important as you rightly point out. My husband is the first person close to me who succumbed to cancer and that has given me a better understanding of how this disease works.

    Wishing you well.
