Hello marr. I don't know how old you are but bowel cancer is I understand rare for anyone under 50 years of age. I am attaching a cutting from Bowel Cancer UK (the colon being part of the bowel) which sets out the close family history which might indicate a need for screening - this you will see does not include grandparents.
However fear is fear no matter what the statistics state. I am sorry that you have lost your grandfather in this way and that on top of this you are now fearing you may also fall foul of this cancer.
