Hello Jan/Griffo.  I am sorry you have lost your mum.  As you have always lived with your mum I realise that you must feel bereft.  I hope there are other family members around to support you and that you are not totally on your own to cope with this.  Also that the friends you mention will be a help to you  Just be kind to yourself and take one day at a time.  Many people posting on this forum have lost their beloved parents and feel for you at this time.  I hope you will continue to post here if it helps you to talk about how you are feeling.  It feels unbearable at the moment  I know so don't bottle it up inside yourself.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mum and offer my sincere sympathy. I lost my own mum to metastases from breast cancer twenty years ago and I still miss her every day. She had it for 12 years and, in her final year it had spread to her bones, brain, liver and lungs.

Sadly, it doesn’t sound as if you have had much time to come to terms with her cancer diagnosis if this was only in October 2017. The only advice I can give to you is to take each day as it comes. There were times when I had to take things hour by hour to start with and you probably will too. Gradually you will come to terms with this. You will always miss her, but, in time you will be able to accept her passing and think fondly of the things that you’ve done together.

Don’t lose contact with your friends. Try to keep in contact with them, as they will help you to get back to a more normal routine.  Don’t be afraid to talk about your mum and don’t worry about crying, as this is a good release valve.
