Loss of dad

I lost my dad to cancer 20 years ago now, I was only 16 at the time, with school and the family business to run, I never got the time to greave probably and twenty years on I've started to greave over him, some days are ok and some days are really hard to get through the day, has anyone else gone through same or similar situation

  • Hello Lorraine, I noticed you'd not had a reply to your post yet and just wanted to stop by to welcome you to Cancer Chat. I'm glad you found us and hope you'll find chatting with other members helpful.

As many of our members here say, there is no time limit on grief. It sounds like you've been very busy and it's only now that you have been able to pause and recognise these feelings. I do hope someone will be along soon to share their experiences. In the meantime, I'm including the link to Cruse Bereavement Care, who offer counselling. Our team of cancer nurses are also available to chat, if you'd like to: 0808 800 4040.

I hope you're able to get the support you need - let us know how you get on,

    Helen
