mum passing away got me asking questions

Sadly on the 5th my mum passed away. Im shocked at how fast it happened i wasnt expecting it to be so soon. She died in her sleep. Does ovarian spread really quickly? and how does cancer take your life during your sleep? there's so many questions i keep asking myself. Apparently when my dad went over to her, her oxygen tube thingy was out of her nasals (she also had pulmonary fibrosis from a couple years back), so im worried she might of taken it out herself for some reason or could of it perhaps fell off itself somehow?

  • I am so sorry for your loss.

it is quite frequent for people diagnosed with cancer to die in their sleep. otherwise they fell into a sort of coma... I think they get so tired, they just... slip away, peacefully.

Don't worry about the oxygene. It wouldn't have made a difference.

When my mom died, I gathered around all of her favourite objects and tried to feel her presence once more...

    Take care of yourself

  • Don't worry, the breathing tube being out won't have made any difference. There are so many different cancers and people react differently but so many people aren't diagnosed until they are in the very late stages of the disease, especially when they have suffered virtually none of the symptoms. It can be a very silent killer for some of us.

When I eventually lose this fight and have to go, going peacefully in my sleep sounds about the best way  I can imagine.

I hope you find some peace soon.

    Dave

  • You think so? cos my mum had pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs) for couple years and she would be out of breathe without it for too long, so its just bugging me why was it out and hoping she didn't take it out on purpose. Im so sorry to hear that! I hope you have people around you showing you love and support. Cancer really is heartbreaking. Thank you for replying so much
  • Why do you say that? I hope it didnt make a difference but im just constantly thinking about it, why was it off. I hope she didnt do anything silly.

Aww sorry to hear that, how long ago was it? I've been trying to do the same slowly, I even go and sit where she was sitting in her last moments, makes me feel close to her.

you take care of yourself and thank you for replying x
