Hi Jules , you sound very busy with different outings and seeing different friends it is nice to catch up with friendsi think when you're busy it passes the time and it's something to look forward to .it will be nice to go away with your daughter for a weekend and it will be nice to go away with your friends to see the puffins ,I know when I see them on the telly there so cute and they always make me laugh ,we have had a nice couple of days it's nice to see the sun out I have mowed my lawns this week but it has forecast rain for the weekend so I thought I would do them just in case I still haven't got my results back I rang the hospital the consultants secretary we have just sent you a letter I have got a phone call off him in may so will get my letter some time this week.glad your foxes and hedgehog's are coming into your garden ,my little hedgehog is back so I'm putting food and water out for him it's our last Tuesday at the community centre next week it will be sad it's been open over 10years it will be a big blow as the local community used it a lot and the meal and snacks were lovely and a couple of the team will be losing the there jobs .not sure what I'm doing over the weekend I'm going into town Friday as I want a few things I'm hoping my son will come mine over the weekend has my oven door has come off I opened it to take a pizza out and the door came off in my hand couldn't believe it I'm hoping he can fix it otherwise I might need to think about getting a new one my friends have got them new fat friers they reckon there brilliant so that might be a idea but I'm hoping my door can be fixed have a lovely week regards Syl X
Hi Syl
Hope you have had a good week and perhaps your results back too by now. Weather has certainly been up and down but have still managed to get out every day. Yesterday was bright and sunny so took myself up to London and bought by rail tickets ready for my trip to Bridlington in May. Saves a lot buying advance tickets and have my seats booked. Fingers crossed it stays dry for that though I have waterproofs I can pack just in case. After a wander round familiar places I then spent the afternoon in Regents Park photographing the waterfowl; so many varieties and a lovely family of Egyptian Geese; the goslings so cute. Had some fun celebrations at the gym for St George's Day as well as my regular half hour session on Sunday and again on Tuesday. Be back there tomorrow evening for healthy eating/diet club. Today went walking with my daughter in law's Mum and we managed to put in 6 miles before calling it a day and then did a spot of shopping locally. Am meeting another friend for a walk at 8am Saturday for a couple of hours and then my daughter and family coming for Sunday and B/H Monday and that will be another week done and the countdown to our street party for the Coronation.
I expect your last Community Centre get together was rather sad and do hope you kind find another way of meeting up with your friends there. Hope your son was able to fix your oven door for you. My daughter has an air fat fryer and is very pleased with it. Certainly useful as a standby too.
Dry and chilly today so after I got back from the walk I mowed the lawn again and took down, washed and re filled half a dozen of my bird feeders. It is lovely having the hedgehog visiting as well as the foxes. Last night the vixen came whilst it was still light so managed some photos with the normal camera rather than relying on the trail camera to record the visitors. They both seem happy sharing the snacks I put out. Wont be able to feed them on Sunday night as my daughter's dog would get upset when it needs to go outside. He will go in his indoor kennel here whilst we go for a meal out and he will do a street walk rather than pop him in the garden just in case the wildlife are about. Hope you have a nice bank holiday weekend whatever you get up to. Take care. Jules x
Hi Jules, not got my results back yet have got a phone consultation on the 30of may still haven't heard anything about my heart murmur test yet ,but I'm at the doctor's Wednesday as I keep getting cramp in my left leg and and the top of my right foot is hurting even though I haven't done nothing to it some times I feel like throwing the towel in and have done with it lol it's been nice here for a couple of days we went to our last visit on Thursday to the community centre it was sad saying goodbye to everyone but there is a rumour going round that it could open up again as a café but not a charity will have to wait now and see what happens,me and my two friends might go to our local pub in a few weeks as they do a nice breakfast it's only a 15minute walk gland your looking forward too your trip to Bridlington it's nice to have something to look forward to even if the weather isn't good I haven't got anything planned for the weekend I'm hoping to do my lawns and I have got some wildlife seeds so I might put them as well on Wednesday at my dementia group we are having tea and cakes we are dressing the room up with flags and bunting in honour of prince Charles becoming king so that should be something to look forward to,I haven't heard of any street parties going on near me maybe there isn't that many interested really we had a street party for the queen being on the throne 70years it was really good but no-one seems bothered this time . hope you enjoy time with your daughter and family and you enjoy your party fingers crossed the weather's good it has forecast rain here this weekend have a lovely week regards Syl x
Hi Syl.
Hopefully you have seen the doctor now and they have been able to do something for your leg craps/painful foot. I suffer with leg cramps at night as was recommended Magnesium Cream which I rub in before bedtime. Helps quite a bit. Hope you also enjoyed the Dementia Club get together with coronation party theme. I went up to London yesterday to soak up the atmosphere; Walked the Mall and spent time in Hyde, Green and St Jame's Park. Plenty of people already camping out along the Mall having bagged their favourite places but dont envy them with the forecast not looking so good for the weekend. Yesterday was beautiful and did not need a coat in the sunshine. Lots of lovely ducks/geese with their young on the lakes so the camera was kept busy. Met a friend up there who had a meeting at the BBC in the afternoon so we had a cuppa together after grabbing a taxi there (I had already walked 7 miles by then so was glad of a little sit down!!). After I left here I did wander for another hour or so and really enjoyed being back in my home town. Lots of photos taken (400plus to sort through when I got home and to share via my FB page and groups. The gym is having a Coronation Party on Saturday morning and our street is also closed for it's party event. I will wait and see what the weather is doing but might just enjoy the TV coverage with a glass of wine and nibbles for a change!
Had a lovely visit last Sunday/Monday when my daughter and family came down. We had a great meal out at a local pub on Sunday evening and then on B/H Monday went to a car boot (bought a plant!) and then took their dog for a nice walk before they returned home after lunch. On Tuesday was at the gym and a friend there asked if I would like to go to the garden centre with her so off we went afterwards. We both bought things there plus had a coffee before getting home in time for our own lunch. I have three new ornaments for the garden (having a lift home made it possible for me to get them home as they are made of stone and one was a bit heavy!!).
Hoping I make it to Bridlington as the railway union has called a strike for the day before I travel. This could be a problem if the trains not in the right places to get my connections. Will just have to wait and see how things pan out now. Meeting a friend for catch up over a coffee tomorrow and as I will be going into larger town with an M&S I think there may be a treat or two purchased ready for the Coronation B/H weekend. I managed to mow the lawn again before I follow No Mow May and have also put some more wildflower seeds down. Lovely day weatherwise today so after my early walk I got all my windows cleaned and the washing outside. Off to the gym at 7pm and then a relaxing evening planned afterwards.
Take care of yourself and hope you have a lovely weekend. Jules xx
Hi Jules, I can't keep up with all the things your doing and the friends your seeing lol I enjoyed my time at the dementia group some lovely cakes most made by the volunteers plenty of singing and flag waving ,I saw the doctor Wednesday morning about my foot being sore she was quiet useless she said it was arthritis told me to get some cream and cushion insoles which I will do but if it's no better after a few weeks will ring them again.ive also noticed my hand shaking especially when I'm holding a drink or trying to write so have got a phone call on Tuesday off the Dr, one of the tablets I'm on can cause the hands to shake so they might have to change my tablets.me and a couple of friends were supposed to be going to a local park to watch prince Charles being crowned on a big screen there is a fair and stallsbut I'm not sure if we're going as it's been absolutely throwing it down here all day so I think the park is going to be muddy there is a lot of things happening on Sunday as well but I think my son is doing a dinner so will miss it,I don't think there is many parties going on where I live I have put a couple of flags out and so have a few of my neighbours but that is all,we had a party when the queen had been on the throne for 70years nobody seems to be bothering this time .at last the rain has stopped while im texting you and the sun is out don't think it's going to last lol I know it was raining in London this morning on the news they all had umbrella's up some people had been camping out for days it showed them all with there tents up don't think I would be that enthusiastic lol let's hope it all goes to plan and people don't spoil it with there stupid demonstrations enjoy your street party toast the new king with a nice glass of wine regards Syl X
Hi Syl,
I love that I am able to be out and about and being in Greater London with such a good public transport network which is free make it very possible. I do try and make the most of my retirement and enjoy my own company whilst still missing those I have loved and lost. My sore hip means I do have to make some sensible choices as to how far I walk daily but I do not enjoy sitting indoors for too long as get fidgety and bored lol.
Sorry your GP appointment was not helpful for you. I use cream on my arthritic hip and it helps relieve some of the pain/discomfort so worth giving it a go and, as you say, go back after a few weeks of trying it if the pain is unbearable. At our age I more inclined to think it is 'wear and tear' but uncomfortable nonetheless. Hope you also had a re-assuring phone call re the hands shaking and maybe a change in your medication could be possible. So many things to think about.
I watched the Coronation on the TV - fantastic coverage and organisation. Our Street Party was a complete wash out which was a great shame for the children/adults who had put so much work into making it happen. Road was still closed but no one was outside and just one of the near neighbours opened up their home to serve food to those who wanted to go in. I stayed in the dry and toasted the King and Queen on my own. Could have gone to the gym which was holding a day of celebrations (no exercise involved ha ha) but thoroughly enjoyed watching it by myself.
Hoping to get to Bempton Cliffs this Sunday. Having to wait and see regarding the train strike (on the Saturday) but have back up plans which may still make it possible. Will let you know next time I write if I made it!
Have a good week and take care of yourself. Al the best. Jules x
Hi Jules, my foot is still hurting putting cream on but not doing much good will ring the doctor if no better towards the end of the week, sorry you didn't enjoy your street party , there was only one in my area ,I watched it on the telly really enjoyed it I taped the concert and just watched the bits I wanted to it was really good I bet there glad it's over now .the weather has been nice for a couple of days it's so nice to see the sun out I've put some wild flower seeds in the garden can't wait to see if they come up I'm not very good with the garden I tend to cut things back and they don't survive I've got a couple of little bushes that my late father in law gave to my son when he was little I have a awful feeling they aren't going to flower again I hope I'm wrong . hope you enjoy bempton cliffs what ever that is lol never heard of it you will have to tell me about it next time, I've been into town this morning Friday just wanted a few things and of course I went to Costco for my coffee came back then took George out for his walk went to my friends for another coffee it's my friend who broke her arm she is still going back and forth to the hospital but she can take it out of the sling now and do some exercise think it will be a while before she can drive and do her normal everyday things.its forecast a nice Saturday but rain Sunday not got anything planned up to now ,I'm going to a local pub Tuesday with my friends for breakfast it's only a 15walk they do some lovely food so I'm looking forward to it it's the first time we've been out since the community centre closed have a lovely week regards Syl X
Hi Syl,
Hope the foot is beginning to improve; must be really annoying. I have had two consecutive weekends away and beautiful weather for them both; such a bonus. The first was with friends from an online wildlife group to Bempton Cliffs (nearest town Bridlington) which are on the east coast of Yorkshire. Rail strike disrupted my travel plans so I was picked up in London by one of the other ladies in the group and driven there and back; so kind of her and we had a fab time walking the coastal area and taking photos. This past weekend I had a weekend away with my daughter. We stayed in a lovely hotel chosen by my son in law for two nights and visited Longleat and Frome. At the hotel they had just welcome a new foal and as an ex farm they still keep ducks, chickens (beautiful eggs for the cooked breakfasts). So warm we could sit in the lovely grounds without coats right up to 8pm before we walked five minutes to the local pub for our evening meal (the chef at the hotel is the landlord there so keeping it all in the family and everything homemade). Back to usual routine today with gym early morning, a bit of shopping and some washing and gardening this afternoon. Tomorrow am in London with a friend for the day looking at the displays created for Chelsea in Bloom (not going to the actual Chelsea Show this year). Glad you still getting out for a walk with George. I have two walks in the diary with different friends on Friday and Saturday and Slim with the Gym (club) on Thursday evening. Still trying to sort out getting some new windows in (awaiting quotes). Have been proof-reading a book for another friend today so not such a long walk but still stretched my legs. Take care, regards. Jules x
