  • Hi Syl,

Not been a bad week though a bit of rain here and there and have woken to a heavy frost this morning so will be off out in the sunshine as soon as I have finished this. Celebrations for my friends 80th were very good. There were 26 of us for the private dining at a lovely country pub.  Three course meal with wine before, during and after if you wanted it.  Also water provided which is what I toasted with lol (I dont drink very often and especially dont need the extra calories they provide whilst following a healthy eating plan). Wonderful too to catch up with all her relatives and friends as had not seen them all for a good few years.  Her cake looked beautiful and was cut and packed for takeaway for those who wanted it.  I was given one of the fresh flower table decorations to take home and also won a bottle of wine having won the quiz 'all about the birthday girl'.  Great fun and it was lovely to spend the morning beforehand wandering around the old town with the camera and had a cuppa in a cute little cafe.  I travelled there by train but was not allowed to catch it back as one of her cousins drove me home on his way back to Seaford so was very lucky.  A quiet week at the moment but did meet a friend for coffee on Monday locally. Still have 3 gym sessions and my walks to fit in so wont be at all bored even if I have to dodge the showery weather.  Hope you are having a good week.  Best regards Jules. xx

  • Hi Jules , sounds as if you had a lovely time at your friends 80 birthday party plenty of good food and wine ,and to see her friends and family.and you got to take a fresh flower decoration as well . I went to the hospital Wednesday for a ultra sound on my neck to see if I had a blocked vein in my neck when she had finished she said everything was fine and they would send a report to my doctor,I have a feeling it's just a part of tinnitus will see if the doctor says anything about it . I'm waiting now for a scan to see if I've got a heart murmur, the specialist rang me last week asked loads of questions he didn't seem worried so will have to wait now for appointment.i went to tweedmill Thursday with my friends on a coach it was a lovely day out even if the shopping centre wasn't as big as we thought it was going to be,we had a couple of hours at Llandudno was quite it's usually very busy must be because the season hasn't started properly yet ,it was lovely to sit on a bench and watch the sea then we had a nice meal in a local cafe ,I was thinking of my husband on and off all day has we both loved spending a day there even the weather was nice, not done much today Friday took George out it's been a lovely day plenty of sunshine makes a nice change,my son is doing a dinner for me on Sunday while it's mother's day will go to the crem to put flowers on my mum's plot will miss my sister being with me this year hope you have a nice mother's day  enjoy your week regards Syl X

  • Hi Syl

Glad to hear that the neck scan showed no problems so at least that is one check up out of the way. Your coach trip sounds lovely.  Spent a family holiday in Llandudno in the late 80s and it was wonderful area to explore.

Hope you had a lovely Mothering Sunday with your son.  My daughter sent flowers and card through the post and my son and family popped in during the afternoon with more flowers and another card plus the paperwork needed for our holiday so that I have a printed copy as well as the electronic record. Counting down the days now to a week of warm weather and quality family time.

Met a friend for a coffee last week and another walking buddy on Saturday when we managed 5miles and even dodged most of the showers.  Managed a decent walk every day (I do not like spending all day in doors despite the nice view the garden gives me).  Last Thursday decided to do the woodland walk through to the lake. Lovely to see green shoots and blossom appearing in the canopy and it wont be too long before the bluebells start appearing.  It was, of course, very muddy following the amount of rain we have had in the last week so a few detours through brambles/undergrowth to avoid the worst of the mud.  I did however arrive for my cuppa sporting muddy jeans and shoes lol.  No plans in place so far for this week as the weather not looking very dry!  Gym sessions will have to provide my social life and maybe a  bit of retail therapy when I pop into town.   Hope you have a good week.  Best regards and take are. Jules x

  • Hi Jules , enjoyed mother's day at my son's he did a lovely dinner and my daughter made a chocolate mousse and some home made biscuits very yummy lol in the morning went the crem to put flowers I'm my mum's plot I also put flowers in a vase for my mother in law as well . sounds as if you had some lovely flowers off your children and you spent a nice day with your son . when do you go away now must be soon? sounds as if you have had some nice walks despite the weather ,not been to bad here for a couple of days having said that I haven't took George out today it's been raining on and off all day , according to the weather forecast it's going cold again at the weekend it's this weekend the clocks go forward so it will be lighter at night but darker in the morning .I'm at the hospital again on the 3rd of April for a  scan on my heart my appointment isn't till 4 0clock then you have to wait a couple of weeks for your results will see what happens when the results are in when the consultant rang me he asked loads of questions he seems to think everything is fine but just wants to make sure ,I'm going into town tomorrow Friday it's just to get me out for a couple of hours I don't want much but will have a coffee in Costa while I'm in town ,think I'm going to a garden centre Saturday with my daughter then Sunday think we're going for a pub lunch while we didn't go out mother's day , have a lovely week regards Syl X

  • Hi Syl

Glad you enjoyed Mother's Day too.  Has been very wet and windy here so most days the walks have been trying to dodge the showers!!  Today is a it colder but lovely to wake up to the beautiful sunrise and am just back from doing my weekly shop in the sunshine.  Makes you feel so much better.  Just wish the lawn was not so wet so I could get it mown.  Holiday is fast approaching(next weekend) and I have dusted off the suitcase lol. My son and daughter in law are having nightmares over what the grandchildren (6 and 4) want to pack in their case lol.  I told them to do the packing when the little ones are in bed (it is what we always did). If the forecast is right then will be a very comfortable 23/24degs.  No plans as yet this week so will see how it unfolds.  I can always rely on my gym sessions for the social side of things. Hope you had a good weekend and that this coming week goes smoothly. I will be away when  you are due to have your next scan so hope appointment goes well and you do not have to wait to long for the results.  It will be another tick in the box for all your check ups.  Take care. Jules xx

  • Hi Jule ,  the weather here isn't great either we have had a lot of rain and miserable dull days it has forecast a nice weekend will be a nice change if it happens lol . they have even forecast a nice Easter weekend don't think I'm doing anything but I think my daughter is doing a Easter Sunday dinner so I'm looking forward to that .my friend went to Wales last weekend to visit relatives her nephew was 30 she came home with a broken arm she slipped in the rain ,so I'm texting her to see if she needs anything doing ,it's going to take about 14week for it to heal her grown up children are all rallying round to make sure she is ok.im sure your grandchildren are so excited about the holiday and the grownups as well I remember when mine were young it was so exiting getting us all ready happy days,it will be nice to get some sun and relax especially for your son and daughter in law who work hard all year round I haven't been town this morning went Asda for a change got a few things as we're having a Easter party next Wednesday at the dementia group group ,so I'm looking forward to that have a lovely holiday enjoy the rest and the sunshine regards Syl X

  • Hi Syl,

Back from my holiday and it was a wonderful break for all the family. We ate breakfast and dinner together and did our own thing for lunchtimes, usually meet up for a couple of hours in the afternoon.  The perfect mix and I had my own bungalow as did my daughter in law's parents so it worked very well indeed.  I went walking every morning before breakfast at 8am and then again afterwards so the camera and my body got a good workout!!  Back to the gym today and all washing now done and dried in the very gusty winds we have had the last couple of mornings.    Definitely April showers this afternoon!!  Hope you have had a good week.  I am now catching up with some of the programmes I like via the IPlayer and planning stuff to do in the garden.  Also checked up on my elderly aunt (93 in June) who  despite her recent diagnosis with bowel cancer went ahead with her first cataract op whilst I was away.  My daughter stayed in touch with her and she says she is doing good and having eye check up two weeks with the consultant before getting the other eye done.  Such an inspiration!  Take care and enjoy the coming weekend.  Best regards  Jules x

  • Hi Jules,so glad you enjoyed your holiday thought you would I didn't realise your daughter in law's parents were going must have been nice to all get together, back to the grind now lol.i haven't any results yet for my earing tests should be next week I'm surmising they might be a bit late because of the bank holidays for Easter,I didn't do much over Easter weekend I had a fall out with the kids so didn't see them and the weather was nice as well were ok now I'm going marks Saturday then we're going out Sunday for dinner , haven't been my dementia group this week as last week we had a Easter party so this week we had a break went the community centre instead Heard some sad news it's closing the end of the month they can't get funding it's a shame it's very popular with the locals and the wider community not sure what we will do now , there is a local pub that do breakfast which are very nice so might go there it's in walking distance as well.ive got a feeling it will be knocked down and appartments built ,that's all they do where I am build flats no thought for the green belt or any thing else really it's sad ,glad you're auntie is doing well despite her diagnosis I'm going to try and cut my lawns this week it has forecast a nice week so fingers crossed I can cut them have a lovely week regards Syl X

  • Hi Syl,

Back into my usual routine now the holiday behind me. It was nice all being away together but still able to do our own thing too.  I have got used to lots of lovely solo walks especially with the camera so grateful I could do that too.  Evening meals all taken as a family at local restaurants were definitely highlight of the day.

Sorry you had an unhappy Easter due to family fall out and hope it is all sorted again now. So hard to please everyone at the same time.  I probably wont see my daughter/family till next month but this is pretty normal for us to be fair. I am due to be away with just my daughter for a weekend in May and have another weekend away before that with my online wildlife group (four of us going to Bridlington to hopefully see puffins amongst other things.    Had lunch with an old workmate friend yesterday and as the morning was sunny walked the 3 miles to get there and then walked off lunch on the return stroll lol.  Today met another friend for coffee which turned into lunch and then popped into the gym as it celebrates its 13th birthday today and there was  cake!  Bought a slice away to have after my weigh in at their slim club meeting tomorrow evening.  A treat to look forward to.   No plans in place for this weekend so see what the weather is like as to where I wander off to.

Hope by now you will have had your results back.  It is awful when you have to wait to find out but expect you were right about the bank holiday making a difference.  Such a shame that the social events/meet ups  you enjoy are having to close because of lack of venue.  Hopefully there will  be something arranged between those that go so you can get a chance to meet up for a coffee/drink/lunch locally.

Managed to cut my very long lawn for the second time this morning and did a little bit of weed clearing where it interferes with plants growing.  I have also got some plants to go in so maybe a job for tomorrow too.  The foxes and a hedgehog are still visiting most nights and have just restocked my wild bird food supplies and have live mealworms on order for delivery at the weekend so the robins will be in for a treat.  Take care and have a good week.  Jules x
