13 Weeks

We found out that my aunt had lung cancer back in July. We were shocked when they told us that it had already spread. There was some hope, however, that chemo would give her a little more time. One year, maybe more.

So she fought. She had 12 weeks of treatment. Then, yesterday, she was told there was nothing more they could do for her.

She died that night.

It's been almost 24 hours since she passed. I'm numb. How can someone be so healthy one moment and gone the next? 13 weeks. That's all she got.

I just need someone to talk to.

  • Hello jadehannahlouise,

You have come to the right place to find someone to talk to as sadly many here will have experienced the same kind of loss you are currently experiencing.

It is normal for you to feel numb at the moment as it is all still so raw and it must hurt vividly.  13 weeks certainly wasn't long and it sounds like she passed in a very sudden way.

Our most sincere condolences on behalf of the Cancer Chat team. We hope this forum will give you some comfort in this difficult time.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
