Speaking at my Granny's funeral...

"I think I spoke for us all when I say I thought she'd outlive us all. As life goes, it was her time and God called her home. She was a very special woman. When she was in the hopsital, she said to me, 'I just got the worst news.' I told her I knew. She went on to tell me that all she was worried about was what we, the family, would do without her. She left us. She left us with one very important thing, memories. She left us with memories of stories she told, memories of time spent with her, and overall the memory of her unconditional love. Uncondition Love is the name of the poem I would like to share with you all. It reads...

If one could ever clearly see
The true meaning in which she means to me
To define a lone so unconditional can be
T'is me Grandmother's love given so free.

Matter not the things we've done,
Races lost nor battles won,
Whether right or whether wrong,
Was her smile she gave and love so strong.
Was a gift of God sent from above
Is a gift of Granny's unconditional love
Her battles through life she struggled to win,
Now she's set free from this life of sin.

Here is Your Angel we surrendre to You
With her arms wide open she asks to come too
Ready for You she holds out a hand,
Her long rough journey has come to an end.

With her memories, her love I'll cradle with care.
A comfort to know she's looking down from up there.
It's hard to let go, so precious as she
You must understand, I know it's selfish of me.

To know You'll have her all soon enough,
It's losing her that I find so rough.
No more shall I feel the oft soothing touch,
IN Granny's strong yet gentle clutch.

She is what some have never known.
She is what some have never seen.
To be granted the years that she has grown,
To be granted this gift and know what it means.

This is the meaning of unconditional love,
This is the meaning of Granny's love."
