Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and for many people, it's a day to celebrate the man, or men, in our lives who fulfill the role of Father or Dad.

A day when a card or a gift may be given. Perhaps a family lunch. Time spent together enjoying each other's company and making new memories.

For some of though, today is a day tinged with sadness.

Sadness that this may be the last Father's Day with our someone special. Or sadness that Dad is no longer with us.

On days like today, grief can be particularly close to the surface, and there may be moments when we struggle.

In those moments, I'd encourage you to dig deep and find one memory, however big or small it may be, of your Dad that makes you smile.

It may be something from recent times. It may be something from many years past. But somewhere, despite our grief, there will be a memory that warms your heart, just a little and brings a smile to your face. It may even make you laugh through the tears.

To those of you celebrating today, I hope you have a day filled with happiness.

And to those of you struggling today, know you are in our thoughts, and not alone.
