Pancreatic cancer

My beautiful nana found out she had pancreatic cancer on 10 November 2022 and passed on boxing day 26 December 2022. Initially when the cancer was identified it was only 3.5cm shadow on the scan and were told potentially surgery was the option as nan at 82 was very fit and healthy. however shortly after the bile duct in the liver was blocked and numerous attempts of stents fitted failed. How can it spread to other organs so rapidly I'm struggling with the acknowledgement nan had cancer but to have lost such a fit healthy woman in 6 weeks just blows my mind. I'm truly devastated I don't know how I feel..... numb I guessd

  • Hi kirstyjamo,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your nana and I want to send our condolences. I can imagine this must feel very raw and difficult to deal with and I hope you are getting on OK.

Hopefully you have others around you - friends, family - for support and to talk to about this. We are always here on the forum too - I'm sure there will be others here who have gone through or are going through something similar, so hopefully you'll receive some more replies soon.

If you feel like you're struggling and would like any additional support, have a look at Cruse, who have various resources and a helpline for those experiencing grief.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
