Hi everyone,

Me and my siblings lost our mum in May after only 5 weeks from diagnosis which was totally out of the blue. She was 67, I'm the eldest at 44...

My reaching out to you all is - is there a place I can anonymously post an in hindsight diary of those 5 weeks (and a little after that), that may help other people? I've personally found YouTube videos to not help as much as I'd expect them too, but (for me anyway) written word allows me to understand with my own unique experience. Writing it has helped me start to process, and I don't want any kudos or gratification from what I've written... but if I'd read similar a few months ago it might have helped a tiny bit more. X

  • Hello MissChivers

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your Mum earlier this year. Undoubtedly it will have been a difficult time for you and the whole family.

I'm unsure about a place where you could post a personal diary about your experiences. I suppose it depends on how much you want to share and in what kind of format.

I know that some of our members have written personal blogs online following their own diagnoses and documented their journey that way and many others have found those records to be helpful. There are also free online diary websites that you can use that you can share for others to read. You can find them by using an online search engine.

Or it may be that you want to share a more concise account of your experience on a forum such as this or the Sue Ryder bereavement community.

I'm glad that writing has become a helpful tool for you to work through all that you've been through over the past few months. I hope that you can find the right platform to enable you to share your experiences and in turn, maybe offer support to others who are going through similar experiences.

    Best wishes,
