Lost my husband 7th January 2022

4 years after diagnosis and a long hard battle to stay, with us my hubby slipped away peacefully. I still think it's a horrible dream and he's in hospital for treatment soon to return home. He got out of hospital 21st December in time for Christmas. A heartbreaking time for all of us. I cooked the Christmas dinner, burnt it true to form sure he never complained ever.  I hope the memories we all have will carry us through this sad time as I don't know what else to do.

  • I'm so sorry to hear your husband has passed away Eimhin and on behalf of everyone here at Cancer Chat I would like to offer you our sincerest condolences for your loss.

Coping with grief and coming to terms with the loss of someone you loved and held so dear is very, very, tough but I hope you can take some comfort from knowing that many of our members have also been on this journey, so you are not alone and I'm sure some of them will offer their support, advice and kind words to you soon.

I know Christmas must have been difficult but I really do hope the memories you created will help when times get tough.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • I'm so sorry Eimhin. I lost my dad last week and it does feel surreal. How can such a ridiculous concept even be possible. I have nothing helpful to say but I'm really sorry you're going through this.

  • I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. I agree it's like a dream a bad dream. My husband was diagnosed 4 years ago. He even was sent for HIPE treatment to try and prolong his life. It maybe helped as he got 2 more years. Scarily be had absolutely no symptoms until he suffered an episode of sepsis as the tumour had already broken through the bowel wall. He was the best partner u could wish for. After both coming out of diaster marriages. We were lucky to have each other for 34 years.

I hope u have the support around you . Like yourself I've no words of wisdom but message any time. M
