Losing both parents young

Hi all, my heart is breaking I guess I'm not that young but I lost my brother when I was 19 and my mum to stomach cancer when I was 21.

my dad was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma bile duct cancer in October, today we had a chance of surgery and it basically failed, the cancer has spread everywhere.

I'm 33 and now I know I'll be losing him too I am struggling to cope.

id love to connect and make friends with others that have lost their parents, was just wondering if anyone fancied talking or giving advice as to how I can go on.

im heartbroken for him

  • Hello Kellyrosie

I'm so sorry to hear that you've not only lost your Mum and brother but that now your Dad has incurable cancer. It's understandably a difficult time for you and I think most people would struggle with their feelings at this point too.

I can see that you've already briefly chatted with others on the forum who have lost a parent or both parents and hopefully others who have been through similar circumstances will post to share their experiences with you soon.

I wanted to let you know about a couple of organisations that you may find helpful over the coming months. The first is Marie Curie who are able to offer telephone bereavement support, Sue Ryder have an online bereavement community and Cruse are a national charity that is able to offer bereavement counselling. Whilst grief, both pre and post bereavement, can be overwhelming, please know that you're not alone and there is lots of support available.

Thinking of you at this difficult time.

    Best wishes,
