Confused

Hi my name is Caron and I am new to this forum so please be gentle.

In July I lost my partner to brain liver and lung cancer. All very quick, 7 weeks and 3 days from diagnosis to him passing. I'm upset hurt angry confused. All understandable I know but 5 months on I'm still awaiting a call from his consultant or even cancer nurse to let me know what happened. Even the hospital have been very evasive and I've now had to submit a complaint which I honestly didn't want to do. Just need someone to talk to to help me. I've been directed to my doctor but all that achieves is them putting me on more and more tablets to help me cope. I could start to piece my life back together with the right help.

any advice will be greatly appreciated

  • Hello Caron

I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your partner in July. It sounds as if it was very quick from diagnosis to his passing and it's understandable that you may have questions about things. I'm sorry that the hospital hasn't been forthcoming in providing you with answers. Hopefully, now that you've made a complaint they will be more helpful but I understand that this isn't what you wanted to do and I'm sure it has made things more difficult for you.

Grief is a natural process but it can be devastating. You may not want to speak to your GP but I'd really encourage you to get in touch with someone who can support you with bereavement counselling. this may be a local service that your GP can refer you to or you may find an organisation like Cruse is able to offer you some 1-1 bereavement support. I know that many of our members have shared how having a safe space to talk with someone outside of family and friends was a great help during their journey with grief.

If it helps to share things here on the forum then you're most welcome to post to offload, chat with others who understand, or simply share. Grief can be overwhelming but you don't have to deal with it alone. We will do our best to offer any help and support that we can.

    Best wishes,
