Advice for my dad about his BCG treatments

Hi, dad has just had his 9th treatment and he has been suffering from the side effects from about the 4th one. He suffers from a lot of pain and also struggles to empty his bladder after the treatment which causes even more pain and I wondered if this was normal?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Helping-dad although I'm sorry to hear your dad has been having a tough time with the side effects of his BCG treatment.

    Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to have a chat about this with one of our cancer nurses you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Our nurses are very knowledgeable and will do all they can to help you and your dad.

    Do be sure to let your dad's doctor or specialist nurse know if the pain is becoming too much as they might be able to help ease and treat these side effects.
