Changing hospital - potential lockdown/living alone

My Mum is currently waiting for our follow up from a CT scan having had OC confirmed. She lives 2 hours away from me and lives alone. Has anyone had experience of transferring hospital for treatment? I am extra nervous incase Covid numbers rise and lockdown happens again and ideally want her to stay with me so I can look after her.

Thanks in advance x

  • As I noticed this is your first post with us, I wanted to stop by to welcome you to the forum, hopingforhope86.

It's easy to understand why you're nervous about your mum living alone now with COVID numbers on the rise and the possibility of more travel restrictions on the way so I hope others here who have gone through the same experience of transferring hospitals will come by to chat with you and offer advice. Until they do, and as you mentioned our mum lives alone, I thought that sharing this page from our website about coping practically with cancer could be of some help in case you feel like having a read.

The other thing I want to mention is that our team of nurses are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040, if you feel that asking questions to a medically trained professional might help.

I hope this helps a little.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
