waiting on biopsy results for my friend

hi everyone im confused and do not know to start. My friend died 3 years ago and her husband has been very close to our family from that time. He is 42 years of age he began to feel poorly 3 weeks ago and had a swollen stomach at the same time he found a lump on his neck he couldnt get into the doctors as the appointment was to much of a wait so he went straight to A and E on sat 30th oct  with a appointment for biopsy for monday 8th which was fast going  they said he had gastroenteritis in his stomach  he was sent home  over last weekend he was ever so pooly so went back to A and E they admitted him gave him mri scan etc and then told him wednesday 10th november he has a tumour on his lung which has spread to his stomach and throat now there are no visits in the hospital due to covid he is frightened and we are hes been told that untill they get the biopsy back they cannot do anything only make him comfortable with morphine what will happen then? will he be able to come home? we decided as a family even though he got his on flat that we will be there for him and he can come here to us we are all in a daze at the minute and no visits make it worse thanxs

  • Hi misstracey,

I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your friend - this must be a lot to deal with and I can understand there must be a lot of questions. It sounds like they are waiting to find out the required information via the necessary tests - this is always a difficult time as the uncertainty and waiting can be tough. Once they (and you) have the results, there will be some next steps and some answers for you. Until this time it will be hard to advise further and it may therefore be a case of waiting and taking things a day at a time.

I hope it's not too long until you can find out more. Wishing you all the best,
