Mum diagnosed with CLL but something else may hav been found

Hi guys, my mum has recently been diagnosed with CLL and has had a CT and broncoscopy with biopsies taken. She has had a phonecall saying not all the biopsy results are back and postponed the apt to discus until next Tuesday. They've also now said the want her to have a full body scan with isotope.  My initial reaction was that they have found something within the lung biopsy and are now doing a full body to see if it's spread.

We know she has something in the one lung as it showed on the CT.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

  • Hello Nat1982

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's recent diagnosis of CLL. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things. I think most of our members here will know how difficult waiting for tests and results can be and it's natural to think of all possible scenarios.

Try to remain positive and take things a day at a time. It may be that this addition scan has been requested to give the team a more detailed view of the areas that have already been identified. Hopefully by the time the biopsy results are all back the team will be in a better position to be able to give you and your Mum a full picture of what's going on for her and what the next steps may be.

In the meantime, you may want to think about giving our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I'm sure they'll be happy to offer any advice, support, and information that they can. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040

Keep in touch Nat and let us know how she gets on.

    Best wishes,
