Hi would my huband be allowed to have time off work, to help me recover from a mastectomy
Hi
Hope this helps every company is different he may be able to use his annual leave or take a leave of absence maybe depending on his job he could work from home. At the company I work for there is no paid leave for carers
I only know from my own time off caring for my son Im signed off with stress due to famly I recieved company sick pay and Im now recieving ssp which I believe runs for 28 weeks not sure what happens after that.
He should speak to his HR department and read though his employment contract.
Xx
Thanks, he will talk to his manager today
Hi,
I echo what you have already been advised. I was given a week of compassionate leave to care for my husband when he was discharged after surgery (I was in the Police). When I was discharged after major cancer surgery my husband had to take 2 weeks unpaid leave (he worked in a school). Meanwhile my brother had to take a few weeks off to care for his wife who has M&S and a brain tumour - he works for a private company and he had to get a sick note from his GP (for stress) as he couldn't afford to take unpaid leave for a few weeks. I hope your husband's employer are helpful & accommodating.
Angie
Im so sorry to hear what you and your family have gone through. I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I will take on board your advice. Take care
