Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to hear of the situation with your mum - I can only imagine how incredibly difficult this must be.

I hope that the treatment goes well. In terms of yourself, take things a day at a time. Keep speaking to others where you can and where it's helpful. I hope this forum can provide some small support to you, even if it's just a case of writing things down and reaching out to others.

Hopefully you'll receive further replies here soon, particularly if there are others with similar experience to share.

Hi Im very sorry to hear about your mum.I am currently going through the same thing with my dad.March of 2020 he had a very successful operation to remove cancer from his bowl and he got on great after it. Unfortunately he went for a routine scan in February this year and the cancer is back but now in his liver ..stage 4 no cure unfortunately. He was given 6 months maximum without chemotherapy and about 1 and a half years with chemotherapy...so he went with the chemotherapy. 6 months of it and finished in August. It was hard on him and hes lost lots of weight and is tired a lot of the time.He was always full of energy before the cancer so he finds it hard sometimes. He got another Pet scan a month ago and his results are tomorrow which Im dreading to be honest.Hes sleeping a lot more and has pain now too so we dint know whats going to be said tomorrow. I have a horrible sickening feeling that I cant seem to shake this time. I spent a lot of yesterday just crying it was a very hard day.If you ever need to talk or vent about anything just get in touch I wish you and your mam all the best and I know exactly what you are going through unfortunately 

Hi, I am so sorry your dad is going through this its just so awful, I know exactly what you are going through, the hard thing is the number prognosis with me as I can't take it all in, my mum is fit and well at the moment and it's just so hard to take it all in , she starts her chemo amd immunotherapy in 2 weeks then they say she can have a scan to see what's what in 2 months, has your dad had immunotherapy alongside the chemo , its good to talk here and I find that it helps, if you need to chat or anything please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'm praying for you and your dad and the results.. take care

Hi no chemotherapy is all that was offered him to try stop the tumours spreading from the liver.We all knew it wasnt to cure it just hopefully to get him a little bit longer.My dad was like your mam he had no symptoms this time round so it was a complete shock..he was looking well and full of energy...but between the chemotherapy and the cancer it has taken its toll on him unfortunately.But Im the same as you I cant take the time frames in that the hospital are giving him its just so hard to believe. I was just looking at photos of him at Christmas yesterday that came up on my phone and hes a shadow of himself....its just heartbreaking and I cant stop crying thinking about it.Thank you so much for your prayers for tomorrow and I will let you know how he gets on xx

Hi just to let you know dads tumours on his liver have shrunk and they are happy with him at the moment. Hes to build himself up over the next 4 months and if they are still happy ,dad will go through another round of chemotherapy. Were all on complete shock especially dad he just cant believe it.So dont give up just yet for your mam..theres always hope.Keep thinking positively about herxxkeep in touch about how your mam gets onx

Hi , my mum starts her 2nd chemo/ immuno  on Thursday , she's been in hospital inbetween as she got an infection and was quite poorly, she's on the mend now , just developed mouth sores due to the chemo but fingers crossed thst goes , hope all is going well with your dad xx

I will say a prayer every night for your mam .Hopefully it will go smoothly from now on with the chemotherapy it takes a lot out of them .Keep in touch x

My best friend of 46 was diagnosed with stage IV anal cancer 15 months ago that was already in her groin, liver and lungs. She's never wanted to know about timescales and was only offered one session palliative radiotherapy but was accepted on a chemo trial which did help. However, within a month or so the tumours regrew and she started chemo and radiotherapy combined which didn't work. She stopped treatment 2-3 months ago and is now becoming poorly with pain, sickness, tiredness and swelling of her stomach. Her last chance is immunotherapy and she's had one session. She's putting her symptoms down to that but she's also losing blood in her poo again so I'm thinking the worst. It's just so hard as she's been my best friend since we were 11 and I can't believe she might not be here soon.
